We Can “Make that Change”

I found this article today courtesy of Rolling Stone.  It seems that The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) ruled the song “Money for Nothing,” a Dire Straits hit from 1985, is too offensive for Canadian airwaves. The song is being singled out for the repeated use of an anti-gay slur in its second verse.  Even though the song has been played on the airwaves for years there was a recent complaint from a Canadian listener who found the content of the song offensive.

It’s interesting that CBSC will ban songs from being played on the airwaves due to offensive slurs but yet will not ban radio stations and their hosts who continually defame and degrade Michael Jackson and the less fortunate daily.  These highly rated radio stations have a high male listening audience between the ages of 18 – 30 and it is obvious that crude and hateful remarks are an amusement so one can be assured that they will not write and complain about defamation slurs.  There are many around the globe who admire and respect Michael and do not want his name dragged through the mud in death as it was in life.  We need to “make that change” and begin one radio station at a time.  The above article proves that one person can make a difference.

The CBSC is an independent, non-governmental organization created by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) to administer standards established by its members, Canada’s private broadcasters.  There are very specific guidelines that you must follow when filing a complaint to the CBSC.  Please see the link below on how to file a complaint.

Please assist  the “Stop Global Airwave Abuse” campaign and write the CBSC, fill in their complaint forms with the link, date and time the show was aired, the content of that show and what type of offense has occurred.  The complaint must be filed within 14 days of the occurrence of the infraction.  Posts and  up to date information with shows that are offensive to Michael Jackson or anyone that is being berated, defamed or bullied will be continually posted on this site.  HELP STOP THE HATE!

If one can put them to flight; a thousand should be able to do greater works. We will help STOP the hate.

Excuse me! Yes! I’d like to report an attack on one indivdual that really appalled me! The attack ia by you on Dean Blundell. Here you talk about how much Dean defames and slanders people. Well, let me give you some advice: check yourself before you wreck yourself. You may be personally offended by The Edge and other radio stations (I’m sure). However, there is a difference between being offended and choosing to not listen to things that upset you, and being so personally offended and self conscious that you have to boost your own ego by trying to wreck someone else. Honestly, give it up. The fact that you even have a blog specifically dedicated to this just shows that you can’t stand when people enjoy things that you dislike. Try to get used to it. This is life. Stop spreading this like it’s your religion.
